Nietzsche did not write this as a warning. He wrote it as a vindication. The madness in love is not a flaw to be corrected — it is the sign that something real is happening. But notice the second line — the one that is almost always left out. There is also always some reason in madness. Nietzsche is not romanticizing chaos. He is pointing to the hidden logos within the irrational — the deep structure beneath the feeling, the wisdom that lives inside the surrender. Love is not blind. It sees something the rational mind cannot.
Plato said the same thing differently: love is a divine madness, a gift from the gods, the soul's memory of the Forms it knew before birth. To love is to recognize something eternal in a particular face.
